Your holiday starts after arrival: count your usable Gallura days

To count days you can genuinely use, start with your actual arrival and departure times, then allow for getting to the home, settling in and returning to the airport or port. Do not treat the first and last dates as full sightseeing days. This simple calculation helps you choose how many nights to book and how many activities to plan.

Separate nights, dates and full days

A seven-night booking covers parts of eight calendar dates, but that does not give you eight full days to explore Gallura. Arrival day may include a flight or ferry, waiting, baggage, collecting a car or travelling to the accommodation, and check-in. Departure day involves a similar sequence in reverse. Count the days without those constraints separately.

Check your actual ticket and note the time you need to be at the terminal, not only a time in a general travel summary. Schedules change, and an information page does not confirm service on your date. By air, allow for arrivals procedures, baggage and vehicle collection; by ferry, confirm the port, terminal and carrier instructions.

Allow for the journey at both ends

For the first day, write down arrival time, the steps you need to complete and when you could realistically begin a visit. For the last day, work backwards and leave the margin required by your carrier or airport. The journey depends on the home address, traffic and travel mode; there is no one duration that fits every trip.

Olbia airport and Olbia port are separate hubs with their own access and procedures. Check the exact point shown on your booking and how to reach the accommodation. Homes in Arzachena and Pantogia are not at the terminal or on an island: the transfer is part of the holiday calendar, even if you have a car.

Build your itinerary around full days

Once you set aside arrival and departure, count the full days that remain. Give each one a main activity and leave open time for meals, breaks and changes of plan. If a visit needs booking or regulated access, check official guidance and whether the time fits with your journeys. Avoid scheduling a fixed-time activity on a travel day without a realistic buffer.

If the calendar gives you fewer days than expected, decide which experiences matter most before adding more stops. Fewer outings can be more practical than adding nights in a distant place without accounting for the transfer. Measure distances between specific addresses, not broad area names or airports.

Use the count to compare homes

When comparing two homes, apply the same method to each: nights, full days, required transfers and the activities you want to reach. A home may suit your chosen days without shortening every journey; compare its location against your actual stops. Check the address and access in the listing or with the host rather than assuming one locality represents all of Gallura.

Before confirming, check your ferry or flight schedule and the accommodation’s arrival and departure arrangements too. Do not rely on seasonal timetables from previous years. A realistic count helps you choose your stay length, but services and connections must still be checked for your travel date.

Frequently asked questions

Do seven nights in Gallura mean seven sightseeing days?

No. Arrival and departure may take time for transfers, check-in and travel procedures. Count the days without travel constraints separately and plan activities on those days.

How much time should I allow to reach the port or airport?

It depends on the address, traffic, transport mode and carrier procedures. Check the route and required arrival time for your actual booking rather than relying on a generic duration.
