Before booking Gallura, test your itinerary with one typical day

A typical day is a practical test of your base: include activities, meals, journeys and the return, then check the route. If it works only without breaks or assumed services, revise it before booking.

Choose a representative day

Do not test the easiest day or an exceptional one. Choose a day that resembles what you expect to do most often: perhaps a beach morning, a break and dinner out. If your holiday alternates coast and visits, test each kind of day. Include the point in the week when you arrive, since a travel day has different needs from a full day. The aim is to reveal constraints, not fill every hour with activities.

Follow the route from home to evening

Start with the home’s exact address and add, in sequence, a practical need such as groceries, the chosen beach, a return and an evening outing. Check the route, transport and access for each leg. Do not use straight-line distance or a destination label instead of an address. If two activities require crossing different areas, ask whether combining them is worthwhile or whether one belongs on another day.

Include breaks and real dependencies

A workable day includes time to eat, rest, get ready and handle small surprises. Mark anything tied to a time, reservation or service: an outing, connection or business with specific hours. Verify those conditions for your stay dates. Public transport may follow seasonal calendars, so check current municipal information rather than assuming a route mentioned elsewhere will be running.

Use the test to compare different bases

Repeat the same day from each candidate home so the comparison is fair. Arzachena is inland; Pantogia is near Porto Cervo. Our homes are in these specific locations, not on the islands and not automatically within walking distance of a beach. Include activities beyond the coast too. A base that involves extra returns or criss-crossing journeys can still work, but the time and planning cost should be a conscious choice.

Revise before paying

If the day works only without breaks, by assuming parking will be free or every service will be open, it is not yet a sound test. Reduce the number of stops, check current hours and create a fallback. Then ask the host to confirm the address, included facilities, access and arrival arrangements; compare the total and written terms. A typical day cannot predict every surprise, but it shows whether the basic logistics fit the holiday you want. To make the comparison useful, keep the same starting points and activities when you assess another home. Changing too many variables at once makes it hard to tell whether a difficulty comes from location, transport or the number of stops. You can also mark which details are confirmed and which remain assumptions to check, so the final choice does not rest on a guess presented as a certainty.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to plan every day before booking?

No. Testing one or two representative days is enough to see whether the base and transport support your preferred pace. Keep the rest flexible, especially for activities affected by weather, availability or local conditions.

Does the test tell me exact journey times?

No. It helps compare routes and dependencies, not guarantee travel times. Check maps, conditions and current schedules for your dates, and leave a buffer. Traffic, access, seasonality and choices on the day can change the result.
