Choose for your itinerary, not the place name

Porto Cervo is a coastal village within the municipality of Arzachena, while Arzachena town is inland. The name of a coastline or municipality does not mean every accommodation is by the sea. Before booking, check the exact address and map the beaches, ports and sites you hope to visit.

If your holiday centres on several Costa Smeralda beaches, staying in the Porto Cervo area may shorten some drives, but it does not make every bay walkable or remove traffic and parking. If you want to mix the coast with Cannigione, villages and archaeology, Arzachena gives you an inland starting point for varied days. The deciding factor is your route, not which place sounds most famous.

Map your days before comparing accommodation

Sketch two or three sample days: one for the beach, one for a village or boat trip, and one inland. Cannigione, for example, sits on the Gulf of Arzachena and has a history linked to its natural harbour; Porto Cervo developed as a coastal tourist village. They are different references, not interchangeable stops.

Check each journey from the property’s actual address. Time depends on roads, traffic and when you travel, so no estimate fits everyone. Do not rely on straight-line distances or combine far-apart beaches into a single day. If an itinerary depends on public transport that you have not verified, check the current connections before choosing a base.

Compare costs and facilities for your dates

Compare places on the same dates and for the same group size: price, rules and availability change. Do not attribute a price difference to an entire town without comparing specific homes. Read each listing for capacity, facilities, parking and layout, then ask the operator about details the page does not explain.

Town services and accommodation facilities are different things. A village may have shops and restaurants, but that does not tell you what a house provides or how far it is on foot from the centre. Contact the property to confirm address, availability, terms and facilities before deciding. A place name alone cannot guarantee the holiday you have in mind.
