Map every person to a role
A group may have one person make the reservation, another pay and a third drive. That can be convenient, but rental conditions may attach different requirements to each role. Write down the booking holder, the person presenting the required card and the main driver before choosing a vehicle. Then check whether the quote permits that combination.
Do not assume that the name on a flight ticket or the person who paid online automatically has the right to collect the car. The chosen supplier’s terms and booking confirmation determine what is accepted.
Read the card condition beyond the headline price
Check whether a card in the main driver’s name is required, which card types are accepted and whether it must be shown in person. Supplier FAQs illustrate that requirements may relate to the specific rental; one brand’s policy is not a universal market rule.
Credit, debit and prepaid cards are not interchangeable just because an online checkout accepted a payment method. That does not establish that the same card meets desk requirements or any guarantee conditions. Ask about the exact quote you intend to book.
Check the driver’s licence and documents
Match the driver’s name as it appears on identification with the name entered in the reservation. Confirm which documents must be shown at collection, licence requirements for its issuing country and any age conditions. Avoid relying on a checklist written for another country or on a comparison site: use the current instructions from your selected rental company.
If additional drivers will share the driving, ask how they must be added and which documents they need. Travelling together does not by itself mean everyone is authorised to drive.
Get a traceable answer before confirming
Send customer service a specific question: “The main driver is X, the booking is under Y and the card belongs to Z. Can this rental be collected that way, and which original documents are required?” Keep the reply with the confirmation. If the combination is not accepted, change the names before payment if the booking process allows it.
Olbia Airport has car-hire services, but a desk’s location does not replace the individual provider’s terms. Make sure the named driver is available at collection with the requested documents.
Share a short checklist with the group
Before departure, compare the confirmation, main-driver name, intended card and original documents together. Check that any amendment appears in the booking, rather than relying on a phone promise. If a requirement remains unclear, resolve it before the group depends on the car to leave the airport.
Frequently asked questions
Can one person book while someone else drives?
That depends on the supplier and the booking terms. Give the company both names and get confirmation before paying; collection is not automatically allowed.
Will the card used online be enough at the desk?
Not necessarily. Verify the cardholder, card type, whether it must be presented physically and the supplier’s collection requirements.
