Flight arrival and rental collection are different times
Your flight’s landing time is not necessarily the time you can reach the desk: you still need to disembark, collect bags and complete any checks. Verify the individual provider’s hours for your date and ask for the latest collection time; do not infer it from the airport’s general opening information.
Geasar’s pages can help identify car-hire services at the airport, but they do not certify that every supplier operates all night or waits for a delayed flight. Availability must be confirmed for your booking.
Ask for the precise after-hours process
If your flight lands near closing, ask whether late collection is offered, what steps it involves and whether you must request it in advance. Have any fees, limits and document requirements stated through the provider’s official channels. “After-hours pickup” does not automatically mean the service is guaranteed.
Ask whether you need to provide your flight number and which contact to use on arrival day. Keep the written reply with the terms; sending a request is not the same as receiving approval.
Align every booking in the chain
Set out landing time, the collection deadline, any transfer to the car park and access to your accommodation. If collection is away from the terminal, find out how to reach it while the desk is open. For a Gallura stay, include the onward leg without assuming late-night transport or a fixed travel time.
If the flight and rental do not fit together, consider changing the collection time or date and compare the total cost. A booking change may have its own conditions, so read them before confirming.
Send the provider a useful question
Write: “My flight is due at [time] on [date]. What is the latest collection time? If it is delayed, what is the procedure and how do I reach staff? Is late collection confirmed for this booking?” Ask for an answer tied to the offer you selected, rather than a general reassurance.
Rental terms vary by company and fare. Check official documents for no-show, amendment and cancellation rules as well. Do not assume a delay is always covered or that the car will automatically be held.
Choose a fallback before departure
Identify the operational contact and decide what you would do if you could not collect the car that evening: wait, use an available connection or arrange a night’s accommodation. Check each option against the day’s actual schedule. A simple fallback means you do not have to solve every issue after landing.
Frequently asked questions
Will the rental company always wait for a delayed flight?
Do not assume so. Ask for the procedure tied to your booking, provide flight details if requested and keep the provider’s confirmation.
Can I collect after the desk closes?
Only if the provider offers and confirms a process that applies to your booking. Check the terms, instructions and any charges in advance.
