Plan by area, not by checklist
The easiest way to shape the day is to start with geography. Albucciu and Tomba Moru belong to the Malchittu archaeological area; La Prisgiona is at Capichera. The municipal network contains distinct sites spread across the territory. It is not one compact park that you can simply walk around.
Three stops are not a requirement. If you start late, travel with young children, want time to read the panels, or the weather makes a long outdoor visit less appealing, choose two. A visit is more rewarding when you can actually observe the place than when you rush through a larger number of gates.
First stop in Malchittu: Nuraghe Albucciu
Albucciu is a nuraghe built to work with a granite outcrop. The relationship between natural rock and masonry is part of the story. Before looking for the familiar image of a freestanding tower, notice how the construction follows the granite.
To avoid turning the visit into a race, decide what you want to notice: the structure, the possible uses of its spaces, or its setting in the landscape. Read the entry information and remain on marked routes.
A change of purpose: Tomba Moru
Tomba Moru brings a different shape and function into the day. It is not a nuraghe but a giants’ tomb, a collective funerary monument of the Nuragic age. Seeing it after Albucciu helps prevent “Nuragic archaeology” from becoming a vague label for everything.
This can be a relatively focused stop if you have already spent time at Albucciu, but it deserves more than a quick glance. The semicircular forecourt and burial corridor indicate a use of space different from that of the nuraghe.
Capichera: the village of La Prisgiona
La Prisgiona adds another scale to the comparison. The site includes a complex nuraghe and a village of huts, so the visit also raises questions about how a central structure related to the settlement around it.
After Malchittu, Capichera becomes the second part of the day. Before finalising the route, check the official entry arrangements and opening for your actual date. Published hours can change with the season or operational needs.
Keep the plan realistic
Use the municipal page for current tickets, openings and contacts. The regional tourism page helps explain the network of monuments, but it does not replace operational updates. If accessibility matters, ask the operator which sections are currently passable and what kind of ground to expect. An open site is not automatically an accessible one.
A flexible sequence is Malchittu, a break, then Capichera if the day and opening hours allow it. Reverse the order if the operator’s advice, hours or your starting point make that more practical.
Frequently asked questions
Which three archaeological sites can I see in Arzachena in one day?
To compare a nuraghe, a collective tomb and a village, consider Albucciu, Tomba Moru and La Prisgiona. The first two are in the Malchittu area, while La Prisgiona is at Capichera. Confirm current opening, tickets and access with the municipality.
Can I visit all three on foot?
No: the sites lie in different areas, so the plan involves travel. Do not treat them as one walking route; check the official directions and choose transport that fits your circumstances.
Should I add the Tempietto di Malchittu?
It can make an interesting fourth stop if opening, access and your group’s pace allow it. For a day without rushing, two or three visits leave more time to understand each site.
